The semesters bring university students to the Pipal Tree-Fireflies campus from January to April and August to November. Credits are awarded by the Pipal Tree Committee and ratified by the respective Universities. The semester is organized around the themes of Critique of Development, Social and Environmental empowerment and Indian Culture and Social Life.
A poem written by one of the 2009 students at Fireflies
The Firefly
i was hazy.
all that i saw was Venus and two black crows
so i asked you to help me See; i said
firefly, lead me to the place where nomads meet
make sense of my scrambled scrabble words
and you brought me to here.
brought me clearly to
climbers of trees, believers in today and yesterday
and in maybe tomorrow
you said
when you can't stand right side up, lay upside down
and i did
then i closed my eyes and started to see
you turned off your light and whispered.
you told me to follow the darkness
and i am
- Maria Geyman (one of the 2009 students at Fireflies)
